Soaking in Daylight: A Japanese Simplism and Modern Luxurious Residence

Unifying Two Contrasting Styles to Create a Harmonious Living Space

The designer, Yu Hsuan Lin, has successfully merged Japanese simplism with modern luxury in the design of this residence. By incorporating a significant amount of wooden building materials and embracing the essence of Japanese simplism, the living room exudes warmth and tranquility. Meanwhile, the master bedroom showcases glass elements that add a touch of luxury while maintaining a cozy ambiance. This unique combination of styles creates a space that is both inviting and sophisticated.

One of the standout features of this project is the master bedroom. To maximize natural light and infuse the room with vitality, the designer opted for glass-made doors, windows, and shelves. This ingenious choice allows sunlight to flood the area, providing a refreshing start to each day for the occupants.

The realization of this design involved meticulous attention to detail. The terrazzo flooring in the entryway and the architectural concrete coating on the living room walls contribute to a textured and modern atmosphere. These distinctive elements add depth and character to the overall aesthetic of the residence.

Spanning 39-ping, this residence comprises three bedrooms and two living rooms. The open-end configuration creates a harmonious and relaxing public area, fulfilling the client's desire for a welcoming and interconnected space. The predominantly white-grey color scheme, paired with wooden flooring, system cabinets, doors, chairs, and tables, evokes a rustic vibe that further enhances the overall ambiance.

The client's satisfaction with the interior design is evident in the seamless integration of Japanese simplism and modern tonal elements. From the open-end living room to the master bedroom, every area reflects the client's preferences and characteristics. The well-designed traffic flow allows household members to interact freely, fostering a sense of connection and harmony.

Completed in Taiwan, this project breathed new life into a pre-owned residence. The designer's careful consideration and arrangement of wooden materials in the living room, kitchen, bedrooms, and entryway create an environment that promotes relaxation and serves as a sanctuary from the pressures of urban life.

The master bedroom presented the most significant challenge in this project. Poorly designed windows prevented the entry of natural light, resulting in a gloomy and cluttered space. Overcoming this obstacle required the designer to think creatively and find innovative storage solutions.

By selecting wooden building materials throughout the residence, the designer successfully achieved the client's desire for a relaxing atmosphere. Wood can be found in the flooring, tables and chairs, system cabinets, doors, and even the television wall. This material imbues the space with a comforting and calming energy, fostering a deeper connection between the users and their home. Ultimately, the expansive and thoughtfully designed space provides a sense of peace and fulfillment, embodying the true purpose of a living environment.

This exceptional design by Yu Hsuan Lin has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon creations that exhibit outstanding design, practicality, and innovation, meeting the highest professional and industrial standards. The integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics in this design contributes to a better world, providing fulfillment and positive experiences for its occupants.
